Objectives
UNAD ensures that services developed or those to be developed are relevant to the needs of deaf people in Uganda. UNAD does this by undertaking the following objectives:
- Deaf advocacy and representation in spheres of social, economic and cultural needs so that policies are responsive to the needs of Deaf people.
- Deaf awareness, training and adult literacy programs
- Support for Deaf persons with multiple handicaps
- Research and development of Uganda Sign Language
- Information research, publication and dissemination
- Formation of Deaf women’s groups and other self help groups
- Cooperation with NGOs, the government and companies in relation to education, training and employment opportunities for Deaf persons
- Continuous advocacy, lobbying and fundraising activities
