Objectives

UNAD ensures that services developed or those to be developed are relevant to the needs of deaf people in Uganda. UNAD does this by undertaking the following objectives:
  • Deaf advocacy and representation in spheres of social, economic and cultural needs so that policies are responsive to the needs of Deaf people.
  • Deaf awareness, training and adult literacy programs
  • Support for Deaf persons with multiple handicaps
  • Research and development of Uganda Sign Language
  • Information research, publication and dissemination
  • Formation of Deaf women’s groups and other self help groups
  • Cooperation with NGOs, the government and companies in relation to education, training and employment opportunities for Deaf persons
  • Continuous advocacy, lobbying and fundraising activities
